Fotbo and NovoServe: Building Scalable Infrastructure Together
Fotbo is a European cloud infrastructure provider that partners with NovoServe and uses NovoServe’s enterprise-grade bare metal servers as part of its underlying infrastructure to deliver scalable VPS, storage, networking, and cloud services for businesses, developers, and digital projects.
Cloud Infrastructure for Modern Digital Projects
Fotbo provides cloud infrastructure designed for businesses, developers, startups, agencies, and teams that require flexible computing resources without building or maintaining their own physical server environments.
At the center of the Fotbo ecosystem are Cloud VPS solutions that allow customers to deploy virtual servers and select resources according to the requirements of their projects. Fotbo currently offers both shared and dedicated CPU configurations, with infrastructure designed for workloads ranging from websites and business applications to development environments, databases, storage, backups, and other continuously running services.
The platform extends beyond standalone virtual servers. Fotbo also provides Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Load Balancers, Floating IPs, DNS Management, backup and snapshot functionality, virtual routers, and Block Storage Volumes. Together, these services allow customers to build more complete cloud environments and manage networking, traffic distribution, storage, and availability within the same infrastructure ecosystem.
For businesses, this model removes much of the complexity associated with purchasing physical hardware and maintaining an independent server environment. Infrastructure can be deployed according to current requirements and expanded as applications, traffic, data volumes, or customer demand grow.
This flexibility is particularly important for projects where infrastructure requirements can change quickly. Instead of investing in additional physical equipment in advance, customers can add computing, networking, or storage resources as they become necessary.
Architectural Foundations: Building Cloud Services on Bare Metal
Although Fotbo customers interact primarily with virtual servers, private networks, storage, and other cloud services, these products ultimately depend on a robust physical infrastructure layer underneath them.
To support part of this infrastructure, Fotbo partners with NovoServe and operates a portion of its cloud capacity on NovoServe’s dedicated bare metal servers.
"NovoServe operates a large independent network and bare metal infrastructure across Tier-III data center facilities in Europe and the US, including locations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, New York, and Copenhagen. Its bare metal infrastructure is built around redundant power, cooling, network connectivity, and physical security, while NovoServe itself operates under ISO 27001-certified information security processes."
For Fotbo, these dedicated servers form part of the physical compute foundation on which its virtualization and cloud services can be deployed. Instead of sharing the underlying hardware layer with unrelated public-cloud tenants, Fotbo can use dedicated CPU, memory, storage, and network resources and then allocate those resources across its own VPS and cloud environments.
This gives Fotbo greater control over virtualization density, resource allocation, storage architecture, networking, and capacity planning.
NovoServe also provides native IPMI remote management, allowing infrastructure teams to access the physical server independently of the operating system for hardware-level diagnostics, remote reboots, reinstallations, and troubleshooting. This is particularly valuable for cloud infrastructure operators, where fast recovery at the physical layer can help reduce operational downtime.
The network behind this infrastructure is equally significant. NovoServe operates its own AS24875 global network backbone with more than 19 Tbps of total capacity, supported by over 10 Tier-1 transit providers, 800+ peering partners, and more than 10 Points of Presence.
In the Netherlands alone, NovoServe maintains major transit connections including approximately 2.0 Tbps with Arelion, 1.8 Tbps with Cogent, and 1.6 Tbps with NTT, alongside direct connectivity to major internet exchanges. Its AMS-IX connection provides approximately 1.6 Tbps of capacity, while NL-IX connectivity adds another 800 Gbps.
For Fotbo customers, this physical layer remains largely invisible. Users deploy and manage their VPS, networking, storage, and other services through Fotbo, while part of the compute and network foundation underneath those services is supported by NovoServe infrastructure.
Bare Metal Precision: Supporting Scalable VPS and Cloud Infrastructure
Operating a cloud platform creates a different infrastructure challenge from hosting a single application.
Fotbo must be able to run many independent virtual machines and workloads while maintaining predictable CPU availability, memory capacity, storage performance, and network throughput. As the number of customers and deployed VPS instances grows, these requirements increase simultaneously.
Dedicated bare metal servers provide Fotbo with a predictable physical resource pool for this virtualization layer.
Because the entire physical machine is dedicated to the infrastructure operator, Fotbo can control how CPU cores, RAM, storage, and network interfaces are allocated across virtualized environments instead of depending on another public cloud provider’s resource scheduling policies.
This is particularly useful when building VPS products with both shared and dedicated CPU models, where precise control over the underlying compute resources directly affects how virtual instances are provisioned.
Storage is another important component. NovoServe supports configurations with enterprise SSD and high-density NVMe storage, as well as specialized high-storage servers reaching hundreds of terabytes per machine. This allows infrastructure to be configured according to different workload profiles—from high-I/O virtual machines and databases to backups, archives, and storage-heavy cloud services.
Network scalability is equally critical for a VPS provider.
Traffic generated by hundreds or thousands of independent servers can be highly unpredictable. A software release, customer campaign, backup process, data migration, media workload, or sudden increase in website traffic can create significant short-term bandwidth demand.
NovoServe maintains substantial network headroom specifically to handle high-volume workloads and large traffic spikes. Its infrastructure uses multi-homed connectivity, multiple Tier-1 transit providers, direct internet-exchange connections, and redundant routing paths from the core network down to physical fiber infrastructure.
For bandwidth-intensive deployments, NovoServe also provides dedicated unmetered uplinks ranging from 1 Gbps to 50 Gbps, allowing the full port capacity to be used without artificial throttling or usage-based overage charges. Standard dedicated server configurations include metered outgoing traffic with unmetered incoming traffic, while higher-throughput unmetered configurations are available for specialized workloads.
For Fotbo, this creates an infrastructure model in which network capacity can be planned more predictably as cloud usage grows. Rather than treating bandwidth solely as a variable consumption cost, dedicated network capacity can be matched to specific server clusters and workload requirements.
Security and resilience are also built into this physical layer. NovoServe’s European dedicated server offering includes network-level perimeter DDoS protection, while its data center architecture incorporates Tier-III facilities, redundant network paths, and N+1 infrastructure components. NovoServe also backs its European network with a 99.9% uptime SLA.
Physical isolation provides another advantage. Unlike shared compute environments, each bare metal server is dedicated to a single customer at the hardware level. Fotbo can therefore build its own virtualization and isolation policies on top of dedicated physical resources rather than sharing the base hardware with unrelated cloud tenants.
This architecture creates a clear division of responsibilities: NovoServe provides part of the physical compute, storage, data center, and global network infrastructure, while Fotbo operates the virtualization, cloud management, networking, storage services, and customer-facing platform built on top of it.
As Fotbo expands, additional physical capacity can be added at the infrastructure layer while new virtual servers and cloud resources are provisioned through the Fotbo platform.
The result is a scalable model in which customers receive flexible cloud infrastructure, while Fotbo retains control over how that infrastructure is architected and NovoServe provides part of the high-capacity physical foundation underneath it.
