Description

n8n is a powerful open-source workflow automation tool that uses a node-based approach. It allows you to connect hundreds of different services (such as Telegram, Google Sheets, OpenAI, Slack, databases, etc.) into unified chains without the need to write complex code.n8n is a self-hosted alternative to services like Zapier or Make. This gives you full control over your data, no limits on the number of steps in a scenario, and the possibility of flexible customization using JavaScript. n8n is ideal for small startups to automate routines, as well as for large enterprises to create complex business logic and AI agents.

Getting started

1. Deploy a server with n8n from the Marketplace.

Log in to the newly created server via SSH. If you don’t know how to do this, refer to the instructions:

To log in, provide the password you set when creating the n8n server, or use the ssh key you added. See: How to create an ssh key

2. Checking the connection data

To log in, use the password set when creating the server, or add an SSH key.

All necessary credentials for accessing the system (including database details and the web access password) are stored in a file on the server. To view them, run the command:

cat ~/.password_credentials

or

cat /root/..password_credentials

Find the variables BASIC_AUTH_USER and BASIC_AUTH_PASS in the file — you will need them for the first login.

3. Initial Access via Web Interface

Go to the link in your browser: https://<your_server_IP>. If you see an insecure connection warning (SSL certificate warning), this is normal for a newly deployed server. Click "Advanced" and then "Proceed to... (unsafe)".

  •

After that, the system authorization window (Sign in) will appear. Enter:

  • Username: the BASIC_AUTH_USER value (default is admin)
  • Password: the BASIC_AUTH_PASS value (from the .password_credentials file)

4. Setting up the n8n Owner Account

After passing the first stage of authorization, n8n will prompt you to create an owner account. This is an internal user of the application itself.

Fill in the fields: Email, First Name, Last Name and set a strong Password.

Click "Next".

5. Creating Your First Automation

Now you will enter the main interface (Editor Canvas), where you can create your first workflow.

Adding nodes: Click "+" or "Add first step" to choose a service (e.g., Telegram or Webhook).

Configuring connections: Connect the nodes with lines to transfer data from one step to another.

Testing: Click "Execute Workflow" at the bottom of the screen to check the scenario's performance in real-time.

Setting up notifications: You can integrate n8n with your email or messenger to receive reports on your automation's performance.

Note: Please note that port 25 for outgoing mail is blocked by default. To open it, please contact our support service.

Your n8n server is ready to go! Now you can create complex automations, connect AI models, and optimize your business processes.
